Hooker headers for $100.....

So, I'm still new to e bodies and was wondering if a set of unused hookers for $100 is a good price and also how is fitment?  They aren't ceramic just black paint.  Any clearance issues?  Specific model/style better than others?

Big Block/Small Block/Hemi?  Standard Starter or Mini Starter?

Generally TTI are the best fit in headers but, others can be made to work depending on other variables

Have you checked the part # to make sure they should even fit the application ?

He only does e bodies.  I know they are e body specific.  Bill knows my car.

I would pass , Hooker have not fit well & may cost you more $ in the long run with installing them possibly more than once , burned plug wires , header leaks, having to add dents for clearance etc

Better get a hammer if you're using Hooker headers. I agree, TTI are about the best, but Doug's are a little cheaper than TTI's (they are about 2nd best for quality/fitment) and they bolt-up very well with little to no fitment problems. Why buy cheap headers if you have to beat them in and then they rust out in a year or two? True $100 bucks is a whole lot cheaper than say $800 to $1,000 for ceramic coated, but then again you get what you pay for!

I have Hooker 2 inch Super Comps on my 496 72 Cuda.  One tube on each side is a slip fit.
Had to make 2 small dents, but having a mini starter and eliminating power steering helped.
But no leaks in 12 years. Also had them ceramic coated inside and out. Putting them in
by myself in the garage was a hassle, however.  I bought longer header bots from ARP, with
the small 3/8 drive heads, to get a better bolt "bite" into the water jackets.  Never had any burned plug wires.
I highly recommend the plumbers white sealant for pipe threads to keep the header bolts from leaking.

Yea I have the same story. I bought a set of Hooker Competition headers that were advertised as fitting my exact car. Had them coated and then had to beat a couple dimples in them to clear the steering shaft and starter.  I bought a set of Dougs headers and love them. Exact fit, well made and tuck up high in the frame giving lots of road clearance and a nice look.
