Ceramic coated headers
« on: May 15, 2013 - 08:07:14 AM »
With another hot summer around the corner I've started playing with the idea of ceramic coating my hooker headers to reduce engine bay temperatures. It would help with heat soak. My headers are already coated, but they're very old and the coating is half blistered away.
Anyone heard of Polydyn in Houston? They do a lot of pistons and turbo stuff for the diesel guys, they'll coat them inside and out and they have a couple different colors, of course it would help with corrosion too

if very old, best to start with new headers, or may be throwing away money.
72 Cuda, owned 25 years. 496, with ported Stage VI heads, .625 in solid roller, 254/258 at .050, 3500 stall, 3.91 rear. 850 Holley DP, Reverse manual valve body.

1999 Trans Am, LS1, heads, cam, headers, stall, etc! Love to surprise the rice rockets with this one. They seem so confident, then it's "what the heck just happened?"

It would really depend on how well you (or they) could get the insides of the pipes clean. If no corrosion inside or out then
weigh the cost of recoating to new headers.
If I cant fix it, it's broke

Polydyn has been around for quite a few years and has always had a good rep
