70 v code charger was a poser
« on: March 23, 2005 - 06:41:34 PM »
I went to check the k member in the v code charger and it was not a 440-6 (hemi) k member.
Hmmm, so I start investigating and I realize that the doors and hood had been painted blue at one time and the rest of the car had not, it was still the original orange.
The only vin tag anywhere was on the door.
The doors had the R/T scoops at one time also.
So appartently, the doors and hood are from a 70 440-6 car and had been put on this charger, which I think someone said looks like a 68 not a 70 anyway.
So I was bummed.
But, then, somewhere must be a real v code blue charger with no doors and hood? How hard could that be to find?
Maybe I should advertise the doors and hood and the vin number and see if anyone has the body?
Is there a registration site for chargers?

Or maybe the rest of the car is in the yard?

And, if not... well... there's still the pink or purple 71 to look for!

There IS a 70 Charger registry......  ChargerFan should have the address, as I don't know it off the top of my head.

b5blueaar,
Find out if the body is a 1968 and what the original color was.  Orange was not an option for 1968.  Only 50 orange chargers were made in 1968.  These were special order cars called bengal chargers.

hmmm, this car gets more mysterious every day.
someone emailed me and said there is a vin number on the trunk rail somewhere?

I have looked for vin numbers on trunk rails for cudas and never found one, does anyone know for sure if there is a vin on the trunk rail and where?

I will look inside the trunk etc for original color, but so far I think its orange as shown in the pics?

I believe the vin is stamped on the right hand side inside the trunk looking at the floor pan. The Cuda's didn't have VIN's stamped in that location only B bodies I think. All Ebodies have the cowl, core support, door sticker and dash plate. If I’ve missed something here please be sure to correct me.

I forgot to check the vin on the rail. dang this old brain is useless.
but it has the small round tail lights.
does that make it a 68?

now I have to go back and check the trunk rail for the vin.

oh, buy the way I found another 68 charger (round tail lights) with perfect hide away headlights, grill etc front end perfect. rear also nice. its white.
should I get the hide aways etc?

Round tail lights are `68`s.I should think the grill and tail lights are wroth grabbing.
