Front end rebuild kit.
« on: May 18, 2013 - 08:47:02 AM »
So the rebuild kit came for the front end. I was wondering if anyone had any secrets and tips for pressing the bushings in? Can I do it with the K member on the car?

I'm pretty clueless about doing this, but like everything am willing to work hard, listen and learn.

you do not need to pull the frame,

since it seams the car is together, you will need to pull the torsion bars out to remove the lower control arms, the pivot shaft and bushings are not bad to do but you will need a press to push the pin out and some long sleeves to help to reinstall the bushing,
the uppers can be done in a large vise, if you upper bushings still have the locks you will most likely have to cut them off before pushing out the old bushings,

if you do not have the ability vise or press you can take them to a good local parts store that does machine work and they can do the pressing for you.

Well the engine is out but I put the suspension back in a while back. I talked to my Uncle Mike (Best uncle ever btw) and he has a press in his shop here on the on ranch so it looks like it won't be a huge issue.  :ylsuper:
