Took the cover off today and .......
« on: May 13, 2013 - 12:06:19 AM »
First great weekend in Denver where I didn't have to work.  So, I pulled the cover off the Challenger for its first Spring drive.  I was very disappointed to find my right rear quarter glass shattered.  I sure hope this isn't the start of a very unfortunate cruising season.  Anyone else come out of hibernation with problems?

What caused it to shatter?
Is it the extremes between seasonal temperatures you get over there?

That is odd , nothing fell aagainst it ?
even in unheated garage the body should not change enough to put that much pressure on the glass

When I checked out my satellite after winter, it had a newly cracked dash pad....in 3 places!!! Can't for the life of me figure out why, I would expect it in summer heat, but not winter. Also rebuilt the back half of my car this spring, and I haven't felt safe leaving town yet because every time I go to check the bolts under there some need retightening. Figure this goes on too much longer, out comes the loc-tite and I'll do it again lol.
Cuda is gone :(

74 satellite, daily driver/project now

For the first time ever I was blessed with a mouse problem. I've had the Cuda for nearly 30 years and for the past winter it ended up in our big garage after I pulled the motor out last fall for a rebuild. I decided to pull the seats to have them re-done this spring as some of the seams were starting to split, was surprised to find a mouse nest behind the rear seat and even more surprised to find a hole in the headliner above the passenger side sun-visor.  More $ gone...I've declared war on the mice with traps and poison all over the building. It was a bad winter up here and the mice seemed to be trying to get in anywhere they could. Still it was a pretty big disappointment to have to order a new headliner and have to deal with the "fun" of installing that in the next couple weeks.

I was able to replace the window this weekend in time to attend a charity car show.  When it all goes back together, I really enjoy working on my car.

Hibernation?  What's that?
Here in SoCal we're thinking about staying in from the heat...  those of us without a/c.

Good luck with the mice.  Enjoy the nice weather!

I have no idea why a quarter window would shatter without physical blunt force, but for mice I have had good luck putting bounce dryer sheets all over the car.  In the trunk, under the seat, visors, even the engine bay.  Keeps the critters out and kills some of the musty smell in the spring.
Yes I own a 1972 Dodge Challenger Convertible T/A S/E with a 440 Six Pak. Can it get any more wrong?
