That movie was filmed in Baton Rouge and surrounding south Louisiana. The drift scene is the big circle drive at the end of St. Charles st. In New Orleans. The freeway jump scene was filmed in downtown Baton Rouge on I-110. They actually built a ramp for that jump and it was a remote control vehicle for that stunt. They burned through at least 5 for that jump alone.
The race scene is at State Capital raceway here on the outskirts of town.
The college campus scene was filmed at LSU.

They rented an old Toyota dealership  (team toyota) here in town on Florida blvd and that is where they worked on the chargers between scenes. I passed by one day and saw at least a dozen mangled general lee chargers in the parking lot. They went through MANY.

A guy in my neighborhood had a mint replica general lee and they paid him a great deal for it. It was one of the close up cars. It was also used at the film premiere and parked out front of the theatre on oneal lane.

Here's a video of a compilation of chargers that is pretty cool.
