The 8 K tachs were a 70 thing , the 71 up used 7 k tachs, the redline started at 5500 sort of .. it was a yellow line to 6500 & turned to red at 6500 up

Then why did my 72 Cuda come with an 8 grand tack?

My parts catalog shows just one part number for the Cuda Challengers from 70-74, who knows what the heck they did on any given day!  :dontknow:

your tach has probably been changed at some point April , the 70 clock & speedo were unique as well

I believe it is on my buildsheet, maybe it was an option in 72?  Now I have to go check.  Are there different codes on a buildsheet for 7 or 8 grand tachs?

no , there is a code for the tach option onlynot 7 or 8 k
