Ok, after work today I cleaned all my terminal w muratic acid and rised it off w brake cleaner. (be that good or bad??) Afterwards the terminal looked so much better! I added a little dielectric grease and put the firewall block and the stg colum plugs back together. I gave her a shot of gas , pulled the choke almost shut and she fired up in maybe 5 seconds!!!  :clapping:  :woo:   Granted this was only one time becuse once running she fires no problem. Only time will tell if thats the fix.  :dunno:  I'll try to start her again in a day or two.

Question : Ok the center block on the firewall (BIG red wire / amp gauge??) as you can tell in the pic looks a bit "iffy"..... what's the melted terminal on the left block w the BIG black wire??  :clueless: 

When I put it all back together I was hesitant to fire her up... cause I didnt want a fire!  When she fired up the amp gauge was VERY ERRATIC!  :22yikes:

Looked for a diagram but could not find one but I'm pretty sure the Big Black wire is the alternator output on it's way to the ammeter, the Big Red wire is the one that connects to the battery completing the charging circuit.
No experience myself but have read many illustrations of this issue, seems the simplest thing to do is add a heavy wire running from the alternator output directly to the battery (or starter relay) with an appropriately sized fusible link.
Some remove the original wires but I don't think that is absolutely necessary, the best thing to do would be to have the amp gauge changed to a voltmeter eliminating the problem altogether.
If you leave the original wires you may want to revisit all of those connections even at the back of the ammeter as they are a potential fire hazard.

Wade, thanks for the info!  :grinyes:   I'm kinda liking what redline does. I wish I knew of a place much closer tho... Either way I sure dont want to burn my harness up - or worse!
