shady dealer tactic, do I have recourse
« on: June 16, 2013 - 12:43:06 PM »
Basically I had a car for sale for a bit. Dealer had a call center call me and offer me full price for the car I was selling. I went in, and they offered me $9k less than asking price. After I had confirmed that they would pay full price. Sounds kind of like a bait and switch to me, only in reverse. Do I have any legal or civil recourse here? I realize that to get the proof I will have to get a copy of the phone call made to me to prove that I was offered full price.

Verbal agreements are not valid in most states if any at all.   Unless it was in writing. . . You got nothing . . . .

That's a good point. Just irks me that I lost $20 in gas for nothing.

Not that it's the same but I have sold a few things over Craigslist, people will call and negotiate a price only to call on their way to pick up the parts and offer a lower price. They think they got you and then they try to stick you.
