Newbie in NE
« on: August 22, 2013 - 10:02:09 PM »
I'm a true blue newbie to forums and trying to figure this out.  I have hundreds of pictures and will include when I can.  I went to the Mopar Nats in Columbus and had a great conversation with one of the moderators.  This site really seems friendly and super supportive.  This is my second car but the first only received a teenager's effort of bondo and paint.  As with most of you folks I still regret selling.  I now have a 1973 Base Barracuda already under restoration.  It's a father and son project and we're learning a lot.  I probably bit off a lot but I couldn't turn it down being only 15 minutes from my house and what appeared to be relatively solid.  I bought a rotisserie and going through it the best I can.  It's a matching numbers base model with 318.  I'm upgrading to a period correct 340 and 727 and styling a Cuda model with an AAR hood.  Lot's of decisions!

Looks like you are going to have a lot of fun and this is a great place to learn. I have learned more than I could imagine from the people around here. They are really great.

Good luck and bring on the pictures.

Welcome to the site!  Glad you signed up!  I assume it was me that you talked to as I was the only moderator there . . . lol.

I think you will find that this is a great site just as I stated!  Enjoy and I'm sure you will fit right in here at cc.com!

Hello all, I'm not on-line very often but I'm certain that this will increase. I thought that the NE maybe mistaken as Nebraska, I'm not keen on the shortcuts. I'm located in New England and my car is a N Carolina car that made it's way north.  I had made decisions to buy metal; tail panel, Dutchman, and the second quarter.  I figured these will be quicker to replace then correcting mistakes.  More importantly, I now need to figure out what to do with the firewall.  I'm thinking of patching lower cowel from the seam of the upper cowel and then fully replace the upper cowel. I've attached a few other pictures; underbody, drivetrain removal and motor work.  My son is rebuilding the motor.  We are at 40 over with a slightly oversized cam.

Welcome to the site and whatever way you choose to go with the cowl, do it before you re-install the engine. AMD make both the upper and lower cowl sections if you choose that way.

  Welcome! Looks like a great project!  :clapping:
Your at the point where it's practical to add some support to the chassis. I'd recommend looking into US Cartool
These cars do flex quite a bit and could use some help in that department.

And while you have the k-frame out I'd do some welding on it. The factory steering box mounts do flex some. Here is a reference...

Yes I own a 1972 Dodge Challenger Convertible T/A S/E with a 440 Six Pak. Can it get any more wrong?
