The previous owner got it body only .
His buddy had a rebuilt 383 , so in it went . A temporary thing that turned permanent .
Has a big hydraulic cam , Team G intake , Holley , Electronic Ignition .

I found a complete '71 340 . Collecting parts and will start a rebuild soon .

It's a 318 California car . 83 K miles .

First owner got the car impounded and never got it out .
Tow Company owner let it sit for over 20 years .
Next owner did the body / clone work , paint and interior
Next owner put in the 383 motor and rebuilt 18 spline trans . Redid the front end , changed the shocks , gas tank .
Added rims / tires , exhaust . After He got it running he fixed all the leaks .
Since he doesn't work on cars and sent it to the repair shop , he must have spent some $$$ .
Got a DUI and Insurance Company cancelled his policy .
Found it on Craigslist in Merced , California .
Hired a Broker to handle $$$ , title and towing of car to shipping port . Car was then shipped to me in Hawaii .

Got to tell you it's kind of spooky buying a car sight unseen . Lots of sleepless nights . Overall , I can't complain

I'm on Oahu . It's been raining the last few days . Looks a little better today and there is a big cruise tonight . Hopefully the weather holds up . Got to avoid cruising thru Waikiki . The cops will pull you over for no reason and give you a ticket for something .

My best friend lives in Honolulu, he's a mopar guy too, and I know there's a white 71 shaker car that's there also, and I believe is a member here as well, great place to live, I was just out there at the end of June for my 6th time, never gets old, love Maui and the big island as well!

A friend's dad has a hemi challenger he bought new in '70 . Another guy has a '71 cuda 340 w/ factory shaker hood , '70 barracuda w/ 426 wedge , '70 340 cuda w/ 13 k miles . its rough as it used to be a race car and it's been sitting for 30 years , AAR cuda and a ' 69 road runner . he has hemi k members and 4 complete street hemi's . also owns a '72 Buick gs 455 , '70 chevelle and an '86 grand national w/ 454 chevy , cage / tubbed , 9" ford . He's had them for years . got the '71 for $5500 and the '70 340 for $3500 . think he paid $12000 or less for the AAR . this was back in the early 80's when everything was still cheap . another friend has a '71 that he bought new just sitting in his shop . 340 / auto .

Do cars out there rust terribly?
Do all the outside cars rot away?

Beautiful car by the way.

Does it retain it's fender tag?
Does it have a build sheet?

Keep the pics comin!

It depends on where you live . A lot of the area's will get salt air blowing in from the ocean . Other places are dry and humid . We get a fair amount of rain , so must of the rotted out cars I've seen have been sitting outside with no cover for years . At least we get to drive our cars all year long .

Stayed in Honolulu for 8 months in the early 90's (job assignment). One thing I learned is not to leave any food in the car long. Insects make a home in the cars there. It will start with the roaches and then comes the spiders (big ones with colorful patterns). Yes, in the heart of the city not in some rural areas.
