Silva vs weidman
« on: July 06, 2013 - 11:17:29 AM »
UFC 162 tonite, reigning middleweight champ Anderson Silva vs Chris weidman.  Silva is the odds favorite but seems like everybody is predicting an upset.  What do u guys think?  Silva has the best record in UFC history, 16-0 in the octogon with 10 title defenses, but he is 38 years old, and weidman has less pro fights that silva has title defenses.....don't get me wrong, weidman is good, but is he Anderson Silva good?

I hope so. As good as Anderson is he is boring and I'm sick of him. Hope for a good fight, KO or submission by weidman and then an awesome rematch

As much as I would like to see silva beat, I don't think it will happen.  At least not any time soon.
His style is far too polished.  The spider has he advantage by far.
Weidman is just another person to put into the web.  Silva can't fight if no one steps up and thinks they can beat him.
I say throw everyone and their brother at silva.  Let the spider eat em.
He's incredible.  A great inspiration to me and my own mma practice.

I do think if silva does get beat, he'll be back even better.
Boring or not, he always puts on a strategic, well thought out defense and offense.

'Hunter I didn't know u were an MMA practitioner!  It's great isn't it?  I really like striking and the thrill of a KO but I LOVE LOVE LOVE my jiu jitsu training, by far my favorite, it's so technical, no matter how well I think I know I move, my coach always manages to show me how elementry I really am at it.  And I'm with you, I think the spider's only possible loss would be a superfight vs Jon jones, and even that is no garauntee!

I do practice.
This year has been rough because of working 14 hour days.
But I have spent several years practicing martial arts.
Started mma probably 4-5 years ago.
I'm not that great.

But, I LOVE the feeling of choking out your opponent.
And yes, no matter how well you think you are, coach always shows me how I am doing it wrong, or at least, not as right as it should be.

I have to say that Jon is probably the best bet at him being beat.
However, you know how it works, one wrong move, and that's it.
I don't think Jon quite has what it takes to beat the spider yet though.

I would say that was one wrong move for the spider

Unbelievable, what a crappy way to end a 7 year championship run, not to say I'm disappointed in the outcome, I woulda been good either way, just really bent about how it happened, Weidman didn't win on his own merit, he won cuz silva was screwing around.  Dana white had said if silva lost he would get an immediate rematch which I would pay to see cu. I think silva would rip him a new one, but silva said he's done fighting for the belt, I guess that means he will be fighting money fights with big names.  I dunno, lousy way to end an era.  Good luck tow weidman, but I doubt he will defend more than twice, rashad Evans will drop to middleweight and take that belt, I think mark Munoz could take it in a rematch, and I think weidman would have his hands full with old Belfort as well.  I think the middleweight division is about to go through the same kind of chaos that light heavyweight went through when Liddell lost his belt up til Jon jones came along.
