Question on gas tank vent for a 1973 Cuda
« on: July 08, 2013 - 06:37:18 PM »
Hi Everyone,

I just purchased a 1973 Cuda, and there is a loose hose under the hood. The previous owner said it was the gas tank vent. Apparently the car originally came with a charcoal canister or something that this vent hose ran into it.  I would like to know more information about this, and possibly get this canister system so the hose isn't loose.  See the attached picture.  Any information would be appreciated.

Thanks!
Jim

some EPA regulation

I just ignored it for 20 years, then replaced the gas tank with a fuel cell.
72 Cuda, owned 25 years. 496, with ported Stage VI heads, .625 in solid roller, 254/258 at .050, 3500 stall, 3.91 rear. 850 Holley DP, Reverse manual valve body.

1999 Trans Am, LS1, heads, cam, headers, stall, etc! Love to surprise the rice rockets with this one. They seem so confident, then it's "what the heck just happened?"

Thanks guys!  I appreciate the information.  It sounds like there is no urgency in getting this canister system, so I could just leave the hose as is.  But I will probably look for these canister parts.

ya, can't hurt to have the gas tank vented anyway.
