1970 440 idle solenoid wiring - where and to what?
« on: July 27, 2013 - 03:29:19 PM »
Been searching but can't find a definitive diagram or pictures which show where the wiring attaches to the idle solenoid on a 440 single 4 barrel carb (auto with air conditioning).  I have the wire which goes to the plunger but not sure where it goes or what hooks up to the rear of the solenoid.

Links or pictures would be appreciated.

I would think it would feed into the 12v power feed to the compressor clutch so when the compressor engages it will raise the idle speed

I use my six pack solenoid to raise the idle when the AC is on.  Do not run off the clutch feed.  The wiring harness on the car cannot handle the draw of both.  Smoke out of the defroster vents told me so.  :scared: Use a relay triggered off the clutch feed and power from the solenoid terminal, battery or alternator with a 20 amp fuse.
