shaker with new hemi
« on: April 22, 2012 - 04:37:35 PM »
i'm thinking of doing the 3g conversion, does anyone know if you can run a shaker with the new hemi. i know you can get shaker kits for the challengers and chargers but i'm sure it wouldn't line up with a cuda shaker. any thoughts?

the EFI inlet is at the front of the engine , the hoods we were selling had a shaker adapter that can be easily be adapted / extended to fit

XV makes an intake that they got to work:

I think maybe Indy's Mod intake will work, but not sure.

Either one, you'll need to put a throttle body on the above intakes plus fuel rails. I.e. ditch the OEM intake manifold.

You can run a shaker with the new hemi, Danko enterprises has been making fiberglass repro set ups for new challengers for a while. http://www.dankoreproductions.com/store/dodge-challenger/dodge-challenger-shaker-hood-systemThere shaker hood scoop is shorter than the original so there scoop and baseplate wont work. I plan on making a similar shaker set up with a stock scoop and having the base plate made from 16 gauge aluminum, I plan on building a custom air box and inlet tubes from Speed from Spectre .Another problem is locating the baseplate on the motor to the hood opening. I believe that XV motorsports makes a makes a ajustable base plate for the shaker.http://www.ebay.com/itm/330621904477?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649 . I have had some requests on building new hemi shaker set ups for people when I finish mine, but I dont think there will be a large market for these. Definitely cool!  But at this time no one makes a bolt on shaker set up .

This is how far I got with mine. Most of its mocked up now. Im waiting on a 60 deg bend to connect the shaker base to air box to finish it. http://www.cuda-challenger.com/cc/index.php?topic=75207.0

you guys have givin me an idea. maybe good, maybe bad.  i recently had to give up my thermoquad to run my shaker due to the adapter i needed made it to tall. i loved that carb, it's been on 3 motors, it ran awsome, improved performance and driveability on all three, now i'm running a junk holley that needs tweaking for every cloud, every degree change bla, bla, bla  :violin:
so what about this. i'm thinking of buying the fast efi or msd, i could run that on my current motor then switch it over to the 6.1 when the time comes. would i be sacrificing power or driveability by not useing the factory intake on a 6.1 ? should i be looking at a different efi system that would work better with the 6.1 ?
