Lean surge pop at cruise
« on: August 19, 2013 - 05:30:04 PM »
so, I had my cuda out over the week end, and the engine seems to developed a bit of a lean surge or pop at cruise once the engine heats up.

I have a wideband o2 meter, at a crusie, about 2400 - 2800 the meter is flashing lean, like 16+ on the meter.  Withe meter off, you can really feel the car lugging as it goes lean.

Any thoughts on what to look for.

I was thinking of pulling the plugs and checking them.  THe car has sat since last Nov.

I was also going to replace the carb gasket, I do not think I am usign the proper one.

float levels , jetting too lean , might be ok with the power valve open under Wot but too lean with the PV closed in cruise mode

CP I will check the float levels...the primary seems a little low.

I hear you on the jetting, but the O2 meter shows it a little rich (steady 13 or so) with just a flash to very lean.  Its almost like one cyilender is leaning out and causing a slight surge.  Maybe surge is not the right word, it almost feels like a miss. You feel a slight chug to the car going down the road.
