23 spline 3 speed ebody trans
« on: March 20, 2005 - 10:58:14 AM »
I found a very nice ebody 3 speed trans in a trailer yesterday.
Is there any demand for 3 speed trans?
Think I should ebay it?

There is also a A body 23 spline (short tailshaft) 4 speed in that trailer with the pistol grip shift bracket still on it.

Could the ebody 3 speed long tailshaft be put onto the 4 speed trans,? It looks like the same tailshaft.

I have never had anyone ask me for a 3 spd tranny so I doubt there would be any demand , & I have never tried to sap the tailshaft from a 3 spd onto a 4 spd , I doubt it would work But.....

I think I am the only one that is interested in an E body three speed tranny.  My 73 barracuda has one.  I would be interested in haveing a spare around.

My car originally came with a 3-speed and was 1 of 31 R/T SEs that did, but I didnt want a 3-speed, so I changed to a 4-speed. There isnt much demand for them, like I said mine came with it and even though the car is rare, I would rather have the 4-speed. BTW the tailshafts are different, at least thats what passon and brewers told me.

Yea find out how much he wants for it.  Does it have a bell housing on it?  The only thing that would stop me is having it shipped to NY.  It might not be worth the hassle.  Where are you located?

matt, I had not read your reply before I left for the junkyard today, so I did not see what he wants for the 3 speed.
however, I found two more ebody 3 speeds today. One stored in a bus full of transmissions and one in a shed. the one in the shed looks very nice.
I am guessing he will want $50 for a trans and shipping will probly be almost that much?

Just curious did any of them still have the shifter or bell housing on them?

yes, the s4 speed is for an a body.
I removed the pistol grip mounting bracket and bought that.
I will see what he wants for these trans on saturday.
The side cover was off this 4 speed, laying beside it in the trailer.
From what I could see, it would be fine.

I need to know how much you want to pay, and I can offer him that?
He seems open to offers, but I dont want to buy a lot of stuff I dont need.
If you want it, tell me how much to offer and I will and if you get it, great.
shipping probly about $40-50 for a trans?
I am trying to get the 68 mustang fastback body out, so I have been pre occupied with that.
I towed about 10 cars out thru a mud hole last saturday with my truck and have one more car to move to get the mustang.

then the 70 cuda is accessible also since I moved those cars out of the way.
