72 Challenger ralley dash in 71

Hi everyone, My father and I are rebuilding a 71 Challenger Convertible, it is not going to be NOS, we took the 318 out and putting a 440 6 pack in it, my question is, It has the orignal dash for the 318, with air, i bought a 72 rally dash . will this fit into the original dashes place, or will i need a need dash? and what other things may i need to get?

It will fit. Will need to run wires for the clock and tach though.

Ok to be clear.  The rally dash gauges will fit in the original dash padding?

Yes, like dodj said, it will fit but you'll need need the 2 extra wires as mentioned. I replaced my standard gauges with rallye ones.

You will also need to change your oil pressure sending unit. The one with the idiot light won't work on the rally gauge.

The heater control panel as well as the flood lamp panel are different. If you have those rally dash pieces from your 72, they will fit in your 71 non-rally dash. If you don't have the heater control panel, they are available in repro...
