318 Intake & 4bbl swap
« on: August 19, 2013 - 01:00:05 PM »
I've seen a bunch of threads but still uncertain. So if this is beaten to death I apologize and point me in the right direction thread wise.

Have a stock 318 that needs the 2bbl rebuilt, instead of rebuilding it I'm thinking of just installing a dual plane intake and 4bbl carb instead. I read good feedback from the Edelbrock Performer Intake and Holley 570 Avenger combo on here. Is this a good combo and/or can anyone recommend a better combo that would maximize gains?

Look for the LD4B intake this will match thehead port size & is a great intake .
I agree with the 570 Avenger though

Found a LD4B online. Other than cracks, stripped threads, etc, is there anything in particular to look out for in a used intake?

milling for milled heads which would be very rare on a 318 .
Is the intake a good price

$75, from quick searches I haven't seen one sold for under $150 anytime recently.

$75 is good for the LD4b & is the best intake using 318 heads
If you were going to swap heads I would use the 308 castings & use the performer intake but that would drop compression a bit , you could also use the 302 318 swirl castings with the LD4B .
