For me... original was the only way to go. The bumper guards were missing when I bought the car in 2009. I spent a small fortune, hunting down a couple of sets that I could put together to get one good set (clean brackets and hardware too), and had them re-chromed. When I had the car in the World of Wheels, I had more guys mention the hood turn signals indicators and how ugly they are, then they mentioned any thing about the bumper guards. I like the cars all original, call me crazy.

Gorgeous car!  I never even considered taking off the fender turn signals!  I guess as they say its all in the eye of the beholder.  I picked up an extra set pf bumperettes to go with the ones on the car to do the same thing, pick the 4 best for the car.  They'll need rechroming to be perfect but that's a while away as I'm working on the driveline & suspension right now.

I don't like them, so they are removed on my 74. I just put an extra bumper bolt in the holes on front and I filled and smoothed the rear valance. I also left the filler panels on front and rear fenders and quarters painted body color.

As the original owner of my 1974 Challenger Rallye 360, I discovered long ago that these so called ugly things actually do what they are supposed to do; the front of my car would have been damaged many times in parking lots, etc. if not for these pieces, am sticking with them.

I've kept mine on my 74 To maintain its originality.     I even left the seat pressure switches that wouldnt allow the car to start if a passenger and seat belt not fastened that were a model year 74 only Federal mandate.

Bumperettes is what my 73 came with just like the round tail lights.  I feel no need to ever ever change the period look of my car.
