When I was a teenager I used to see these kinds of wrecks while strolling through junkyards looking for something interesting for the Roadrunner. It looks like the driver might have actually made it out of the wreck based on the driver's area being 'mostly' intact. That wasn't often the case when these old cars wrecked and it wasn't uncommon to see remnants from the former driver still visible on the steering column, dash, windshield, etc. Some cars were so crushed it was hard to tell how they even extracted any drivers or passengers from the car. This was before 'jaws of life' and metal cutters were as common as they are today. I wouldn't have wanted to have been the emergency worker back then that had to go in for the remains.... On the plus side, seeing the aftermath of all that automotive mayhem probably helped keep me alive during my 'immortal' youth.
