How to install sound deadener?

You heat the material , make sure the metal is cleaned with something alcohol based, wear gloves. I used rubber gloves. I found it easier to use a soft sewing tape measure to fit in all the groves so you get the right measurement. To make templates I used the paper backing off the ones already installed. Still not sure how I'm going to do the doors.

I used dynamat and bought it on ebay-i used two rolls but did not do my roof as someone stated ihe glue could fail with heat and fall down() I butted the joints and did not cover the vertical brackets, just the horizontal ones. I installed the floor plugs first as water shouldn't be an issue with these cars (as they are not driven daily-winter-rain etc) in the heat the should be flexible but i used a hairdryer on the mat (foil side) to make it more plyable. I used bubble wrap insulation on the doors and headliner as it was lighter ( stuff used for heat ducts in homes) hope this helps

I did mine in the summer.  The heat of the summer was enough to make the fatmat soft, flexible and tacky.

I installed sound deadener in the cabin floor. I just used a heavy mill plastic on the doors and attached it by using double sided duct tape.
I have a convertible so I didn't do the trunk. I will see how it goes and install If  needed.

  do you usually do the roof? This stuff sticks very well and I'm heating it up first so the bond is good. I have heard people say it peels down? My car is black so I'm worried about it getting soft when the car sits outside at a show or something. Does the roof even need to be done?

To answer your question I don't think most people use it on the roof as they are afraid of it getting hot and sort of melting.  My car is also black.  I just used the stock type insulation on the roof.  I think that will be more than adequate.

I have talked with a few other members and they have done the roof also. My car will be stored in my shop so I don't have to worry too much a out it getting too hot. I will also be doing my roof

when i did mine i went a little crazy i put it everywhere from the bottom of the front window to the back glass. also the doors just behind the panels all of the roof and the package tray. i think i went thru 4 and a half boxes of dynamat. did not get a chance to drive it yet but the doors shut like a new 300c and it seems to just firm the body up quite well, im sure i added quite a bit of weight but thats how i pleaded my case to the better half for the 572 hemi  lol.   thx bruce

Just a suggestion... Hoome Deepo sells an sticky alum foil covered insulation pretty cheep. Used a couple of rolls on my son's Torino.
If your on a budget this stuff works really well at a fraction of the Dyna mat cost

I find it in the heating (ducts ect) section, its about 15 bucks a roll and roll is 1.5 ft by 10 or 15 ft if I remember right. its basicly a tan colored foam insul stickey on 1 side and alum foil on the other.
