anyone need a hemi?
« on: April 04, 2005 - 11:37:12 PM »
got your attention now, don't i?

found an old guy in kansas over the weekend with a bunch of hemi cars. too bad they are all early 50's.  at least a dozen. think 8 of them were in chryslers, so they should be 331's. several dodges, and desotos, which had different sizes, but i don't know what sizes they would be for sure. smaller than the chrysler anyway.

anyone still interested?
have to buy the whole car. he doesn't sell just parts, have to take the whole car.
email me at tschmal@netscape.net if you are interested in a little hemi. if you need info on these motors, hotheadhemi has a lot of info.

I'm really not up on those engines, but I guess in their day they ate up the x- brands like the 426 did in 64-65. I beleive the 331 was the first hemi offered to the public, then there was the 354 and then the 392. HemiNut here on this board has a built 392 in his e-bod and just loves it. I know he could fill you in on possible other old Hemi blocks. Actually those cars would not be a bad investment in one regard, they were some classy rides, weighed around 2 ton, but once you got them moving........,lol.

You know, I've always wanted to try to cram a 331 or 392 hemi into an old Austin-Healey MK3000...

First off, can it fit? Second off, how much does this person want for a whole car?

no drop tops. if there were, i would keep it.
this guy has been picking up cars for the last 50 years. he has over 1000 cars.

need to get back there with a camcorder. i had a camera with me, but the batteries died in another place we were looking for cars.
other yard has at least 3 cars i am going to pick up. 69 merc montego mx (351w), 69 el camino (350 with cowl hood, and complete ralleyes including caps and rings), 50's ford pickup with flathead. several others i am interested in too.

very productive weekend, except no mopars i was looking for. only thing close was a 68 383 coronet 4 door.

did end up with poison ivy for my efforts though. might be poison oak, considering where we were. whatever it is, it's driving me nuts.

moparmatt, you have mail.
