Looking for a rifle scope
« on: September 07, 2013 - 02:44:04 PM »
I picked up a little Marlin Xt 22 yesterday and would like to get a scope for it. It's mainly going to be for range shooting at 25 and 50 yards and I'd like something adjustable so I can dope it for the 2  distances. It's been about 20 years since I last looked at scopes so I have no clue what's out there now.

I don't want to spent a pile of money on one, but I don't want to by junk either.

I'm looking for suggestions on optics as well as brands. You can't shoot critters in your back yard in Puerto Rico, so the only use  it's going to get is range time and maybe a zombie apocalypse or 2. Something that will swap to my AR15 and in the future to a 308 would be a huge bonus too.

Any scope that is suitable for a .22 will not have the proper eye relief for a 308, so you will need to buy two scopes. Personally I like peep sights and red dots for .22's and like bushnell elite 3200 and leopold's for the bigger guys.

I have a red dot/green dot on my AR right now and  it's fine for popping targets at the range closer in. The 22 is going to be used more for semi competitive shooting at 25 and 50 yards, so I'd prefer something with a scale like mil dot or rings.
As far as a scope for the 308, I don't have the rifle yet, so I'll worry about that scope when the time comes
