Story about the search and restore challenger
« on: October 04, 2013 - 12:26:01 AM »
Here is a Lil story of how hard the car fought us till the end we where getn the call ready to shoot the finally of the family getn the car and I was getn wax out of the luvors on the back of the hood and I smelled gas real bad so I raised the hood and saw on the fuel gauge on the fuel regulator was showing 60 psi and I called John & mike from house power over and we realized the EZ EFI's controler had the pumps running and they had filled the cylinders up with gas ( so much gas it was leaking out of the exhaust back to where they were clamped to go over the rearend !!!) anyway she have about 30 mins before Ty gets there to see the car !!!! So we put it on the lift drain the oil disconnected the exhaust drain it out and we get it down and pull the plugs gonna spin it over and get the cylinders drained ? And I told Tim make sure to kill the MSD to kill the coils and guess what ???? They didn't and when they spun it over it blew about a gallon of gas out on the motor and the bottom of the hood and lit up like a Roman candle instantly !!!!! Luckly we got it out and only a few of us got burned and lost alot of hair !!!!! But the fire and car almost needed the fireman to put out his own HOTROD !!!!! Lol
Just thought y'all mite enjoy that story ?

U should of seen the singed hair and the smell was awful !!!! We had put those pig pads that absorb oil and stuff over the spark plug holes and it caught those on fire and when they burn they turn into hot plastic !!! So we got a few scares from the build as a reminder of what happens when u mix gas & spark !! Lol

We were very lucky !!!! It just got alot of soot on the valve covers and the bottom of the hood we were able to take sum compound and get it off of everything. But u talkin bout a bunch of guys blowing, fanning and tryn to get rid of those melting pig blankets !! We had to get the fire extinguisher out to put those friggin things out !!! But we got it put back together cranked and doctored our wounds and smiled for the camera !!!!! Seeing the look on Ty's face made all the long hours and time away from home worth every min of it !!!!
