    So the more I think about it, the more I want to put a 5.7/6.1 Hemi in my Cuda.   Since their introduction there have been a few minor differences in some of the pieces on the motors.  What I would like to know is what I should be looking for when hunting for a used motor to start with. 

    My intention is to get a used motor, beef up the bottom end a bit, upgrade heads and cam, and but a kenne bell supercharger on it.  Get around 580-600 hp +? and run the whole thing off of a megasquirt ECU.  I have a Tremec TKO600 that I will be keeping. 

    Do I need to be concerned with years, what it came out of, VVT or not, truck? Car?  if I'm going to take it apart anyhow?  it appears I can get a great core with accessories for around $2K on ebay.

    I would just buy cheap truck block, car front cover, and rest of the stuff solitary, like good forged stroker kit for lower compression etc.  if you are going to strengten the bottom and go with ported heads, you would not have any use for stock rotating parts anyway.
    Truck cover might create issues with Kenne Bell, at least there are more options for Chargers and Challengers than for older RAM´s.
    VVT problematic with cam choises and maybe problem with Megasquirt, I am not sure can latest version control timing of that. VVT came 2009, MSD after 2006 or around it.
    I have been thinking also supercharging, I am running 5.7 with a basic tune up´s, good thing is that I use allready FAST Xfi, so upgrade would be a bit easier.

    I'm curious too, but I'm interested in buying a complete running motor from a wrecked car.

    Not looking to get into the hassle / expense of a rebuild on top of the transplant.

    Would I need to be concerned with VVT or not if i'm going to tear apart the engine anyhow?  Where is the VVT built into to motor?

    Yes, thats a good article, also if you check "for A-bodies only" forum, they have good new hemi topic running there...:

    About VVT engines, I think that the cam bore in the block is different than older ones, so choices for camshafts are more limited.
