518 Question
« on: September 18, 2013 - 11:12:31 AM »
I've been reading some of the threads about 518 Tranny's.  My question is, can the lock up function on a lock up trans be bypassed so a non lockup converter can be used?  If a lockup 518 is used with a lockup converter, does the trans ever have to go into lockup or can the lockup control just never get set up, thus the trans never going into lockup?

Thanks,

Mark

Lock up and non lock up converters are different spline count on the input shaft so you can't just swap them. You can run a lock up without the converter clutch locking up.
