tranny lever
« on: September 17, 2013 - 09:34:48 AM »
Guys I need an original tranny shift lever for a 727 that goes with the slapstick shifter. When reassembling my cuda after 20 years I remembered The lever that is on there now is from the B&M shifter I installed and will not work with the original linkage. Can someone sale me one or tell me where to get one. Even if someone has one but they do not want to get rid of it, measurements or a tracing will work and I can make it fairly easily in the shop. I have tried E-Bay and a few other places, no luck yet.

Thanks Ray,

Which "lever"?  From the carb to the tranny are about 5-6 rods and a couple of levers:   Which one do you need?

I think he's talking about the shift linkage, not the kickdown linkage. Sounds like he's looking for the rod that connects the shift linkage to the transmission, the lower rod.

Are the 904 and 727 levers the same? They all used the same pivot and shifter mechanism so I assume so.

Yes that is correct, I need the lever that sits on the transmission shaft that actually shifts the tranny.  I do not know much about the different levers for different applications, I have heard the column shift is different from the console shift. What I need is a lever for the 727 transmission that goes along with a console shifted 73 Barracuda. I would be interested in buying one or getting the measurements or tracing to make one. I have a good base that sits on the shaft but it is bent in a 90 degree angle to accommodate the B&M shifter I bought some years ago. It could be as simple as cutting off the angle at the base and welding on a straight arm and drilling the hole.

Doc I believe I found one in Canada. Been waiting for an invoice with shipping cost. If it doesn't pan out I will contact you through site.

Thanks Ray
