just to give you a base line.............
i had 28" tires with 4.10 gears and 1:1 with my 4 speed, 60 mph was 3000 rpm
i switched to 3.73 gears, 3000 rpm was about 65 mph.
i now have 26" tires with the 3.73 gears and i'm back to 60 mph at 3000 rpm.
you should really notice a difference between every gear ratio. each gear should have approximately 5 mph difference,
now factor in the o.d. for your final drive ratio. another thing to remember is with the tall 1st gear and matching that with a
set of 3.73 or 3.91's, you might have a hard time keeping the tires on the pavement. then you'll need to run drag radials
all the time, which isn't all that bad but they do wear fast.
i got my 3.73's (498 case) from summit for around $210
