Help trunk latch assemble rod key
« on: September 27, 2013 - 11:08:31 PM »
Ok When I changed the trunk floor I changed the rear panel from a 72 to a 70. When I put the lock on the lever pulls the rod, the rod needs to push to unlock the latch. I tried flipping parts around but nothing worked. I must have the latch assembly on wrong or did it relocate the lock to a different position.  i thought it was the same location. I know it is the same key and tumbler for 70-72. it will all link together but jjust moves the rod in the wrong direction to unlatch. Any body have any pictures of the latch assembly mounted and a picture of the key/lever  installed. I must be over looking something.

Lock cylinder is in a different location. You need a different rod.
If I cant fix it, it's broke

The 72-74 Trunk lock rod is shorter then the 70-71 rod. Thry do not interchange. :2cents:

It's easy to fabricate your own with some 3/16" rod.
