I just installed my first carpet, a two piece ACC with upgraded rubber backing. I misjudged the console location of the front piece. I have a slit that runs about 4 inches coming from the console front toward the firewall.
I repaired another excess cut on the console's side using fishing line, a heavy needle and pliers. With the rubber backing, I had to push-pull the needle and it was a tough job. The area that still has the cut exposed has insulation under the rubber backing. It bent that needle in half. So, I installed the carpet anyway and hoped for the best.
Seam tape helped some, and you wouldn't see the tear unless you were looking for it. But I know it's there, and I want to fix it. Does anyone have any suggestions? With that rubber backing, I think some kind of glue might do the job. That new carpet looks too good to leave like it is.
