Holley carb throttle cable problem

Here is what I have. 1971 Challenger 440 4 speed. The engine has an Edelbrock RPM performer on it and a Holley 750 carb. My issue is that the throttle bracket is too far forward and I cannot clip the cable to the bracket and the gas pedal. So far I have:
1.) bought a longer throttle cable (did not work, the length is in the wrong area)
2.) Called Summit and purchased the only 2 conversion brackets they offer ( neither bring the bracket back the 3-5 inches I think it needs, only out)

I am at a loss. I have been working on this car for 8 years and it is almost done and I am so frustrated with it, that I am considering selling it.

Any Help would be great.

That's bizarre. Just a question, was this thing originally a 440 car? You can't loosen the cable clamp and slide it up? There should be no appreciable difference in the spacing between a Carter or Holley, unless the Holley is configured for a different engine/car, linkage-wise.

the added height of the intake puts the carb further away , so I assume the end of the cable will not reach the carb without opening the throttle , if so just add a short metal extension with 2 holes in it & use a small hitch pin the link the cable to the metal extension .
The second bracket you have pictured is the one you need to align the pin with the cable & correct the ratio

I used the Lokar set up on mine, works great!

I have added the thin metal extensions made from black aluminum and it works fine. Used small machine screw with nylon insert nut to attach. Be sure to leave lose enough so it can pivot on the carb.

  What was the part number to the Lokar throttle cable that you used? I think I need a 36" but the end doesn't look like it would fit on the stock pedal. Did you have to modify that too?

I believe it was a 36" kit I used. I removed the cable from the "sheath?" fed it through the pedal and then back into the sheath. Using the supplied aluminum clevis as a stop.
