Park Brake Warning Light Bulb Socket
« on: January 14, 2014 - 08:42:15 PM »
I have a '73 Rallye Gauge Cluster and I'm trying to work out what sort of bulb socket I require for the park brake warning light. The car did not have one when I bought it.

From the original wiring diagram I believe it is a 2 wire socket.

Any help would be appreciated.

Question bump? A photo of that region on the back of the gauges would be enough

I don't have a picture handy, but you're correct. It has two wires running into it. One is a solid black wire, the other is dark blue with a tracer. :2cents:

Cheers, just wanted to make sure before I purchased parts or wired it wrong. I've been having a hard time tracking down the original style 57 bulb sockets.

Bulb type 53 sockets are readily available with the correct diameter clips, so I'll use one of those.

Man when I think of the amount of wiring harnesses I've thrown away or sold on my $2 tarp.....It's times like this that a used one would come in handy....if only you lived closer... ::)

For the lighting they are the same, cheers for the photo.

Thanks for the consideration, I have a whole range of parts brewing on summit racing order, adding a light socket to the list shouldn't blow the budget... yet!!!

I kept the original non-functioning wiring harness in the car for as long as possible while installing the painless system. Until one day I chucked a mantrum and started slicing until all of the old harness was sitting in a bucket. I occasionally look through my bucket of wiring and pull out useful pieces.
