Help! 915 Head casting I.D.
« on: November 09, 2013 - 08:15:24 PM »
I have an odd set of 915 heads. Usually their are two main casting numbers on a 60's Mopar head; the model, and the production date. But on this set of heads there is: 2780915 10, and on another area it is stamped 2255. As I understand it, that would mean they were built on February 25th, 1965, but 915's were only produced for 1967.  Anyone have any ideas?  There is also a weird looking symbol on the front exterior of the head. It looks like a filled in letter M.  Any help is greatly appreciated.

I think they were made for more than one model year. There are different 915 heads. Mine,
before I had them worked on, came with 1.60 exhaust valves. The HP models had 1.72
exhaust valves. But its been 20 years, so I could be wrong.
72 Cuda, owned 25 years. 496, with ported Stage VI heads, .625 in solid roller, 254/258 at .050, 3500 stall, 3.91 rear. 850 Holley DP, Reverse manual valve body.

1999 Trans Am, LS1, heads, cam, headers, stall, etc! Love to surprise the rice rockets with this one. They seem so confident, then it's "what the heck just happened?"

thought I read somewhere that they appeared on some 66 or 68 models, but could have been dreaming.
