73 Cuda advice

Hey guys have imported a 73 Cuda from the states to Oz and love it, it's really clean and tidy but has a few annoying squeeyks up in the front end and the inside of the front tyres have quite a cambered wear in them. Firstly I know the squeeyks may sound a bit ambiguous but has any body heard of similar things, someone told me last week that nylon bushes will work instead of the ruby ones it has. And secondly why the inside of the front tyres would be worn so much. Any experienced advice appreciated Cheers All

Hey fellow Aussie, I to have a 73, the squeak is your LCA bushes, as a temp fix you can give them a spay with silicon spray or crc but they need to be. Replaced. Tire wear will be alignment or worn front end, just replace everything and your good to go, where are you and post some pics please

Im just buying my gear through Firm Feel, im not sure if the typical local Valiant bushes fit if you just wanted to stay standard, maybe another local might be able to help, hemiken is up in Warwick and there are alot of other local guys who will help. I have a triple black 73 Cuda 340, if you jump on the gold Coast muscle car web site and look at the sold cars you will see it there with a heap of photo's, I actually bought it out of Melb from the guy who bought it from GCMC. its as driven off the dealer floor + 90K miles so totaly original as ordered.

Hey Greg, I imported mine through Jim at GCMC it's a blue matching numbers 340 with go wing and a "Shaker" in the hood, a big 750 carburetor which I've had a bit of trouble with getting tune right, my mechanic was bit dumbfounded on it for a while and he replaced the ignition module as he thought that May have been the issue but it refuses to start unless the ignition is held on when the engine is hot! It's due to go back. I will have a look around for those bushes. Are you still on the Gold Coast?

that sounds like the balast resistor, years ago my valiant had that issue, it would start and run so long as you held the key on start but just off a little so the starter was not running

I am sure he has Rubber, i would not use poly in my front end personally, it is too harsh and these fronts were designed to have rubber in my opinion. :2thumbs:

Welcome to the site! Wear to the inside of the tire usually indicates a camber problem. That could be caused by the upper ball joint, upr cntrl arm or upr adjusting cam bolts. Take the car to a knowledgeable alignment shop and get them to check it out before you go and replace everything. The advice you got about the poly bushings is good and there's been a few threads on that subject. Oh, and welcome to the site from Canada!  :canada:
