A518 (46rh) dumb question

I have read as much as I could find on the 46rh A518, I understand how you need to use pressure switches to control the OD and TC lock-up, but how did the stock transmission work these functions.

The vehicles computor did this but seems as our "real cars" don't need one we have to have something to take the place of the computor.
The vac. & pressure switches are the most simplest solution or just 2 toggle switches which can be a pain especially if you forget to turn one off when stopping.

I wonder if instead of a toggle switch, you could somehow use a push button to engage a relay...then the relay could be wired to switch off when the brake pedal is applied.

Sounds good at first, but the every time you pushed the brake, something would happen. You would have to have a master switch
to start the initial process of engagement. And if that was the case, why not just use a toggle to begin with?  :dunno:

What I meant was once the brakes were depressed, you'd have to hit the button again for the OD to activate.  Something along the lines of cruise control.  You push a button and the system is activated.  Touch the brakes and it turns off.  You'd never have to worry about switching off the toggle when you came to a stop light.

Now that I DO like. I don't know if it can be wired that way or if you would need a computer to do it. Essentially you
need one switch to turn it on and one or two switches (first on-off switch and 2nd brake pedal switch) that could turn it off

When I do get a 46RH for my LRE I will be fitting the vac switch kit which is available from PATC, it is simple and works like a computor controlled transmission, one switch to turn on and forget. It can be wired differently so lock up and overdrive can be independently operated but why bother as it may cause the transmission to run hotter!

Simple circuit to make 2 regular relays and a push button into a latching relay circuit, that disconnects when the brake is touched.  If you don't turn off the lock-up torque converter when you stop, the engine will die.

I sold off my 2 518s and put 4 speeds in my 3 e-bodies they are just so fun to drive!
