Challenger Project and Parts
« on: November 03, 2013 - 08:20:08 AM »
OK, busy work schedule and the realization that I have way too many projects leads me to putting this up for sale. First I will be honest and say this is a major project. What I have is a 1970 Challenger R/T SE 440 - 4bbl car. Originally equipped with an auto and dana. No fender tag, but I have build sheet. Car was originally EF8 with V9J bright green bumble bee stripe. The car was cut up and parted years ago. I picked it up probably 10 plus years ago with the intention of making a pro-touring style custom car. I used the front clip of a 72 to replace the cut front rails and floor. I have rebuilt the cowl and welded it back in. A-pillers were replaced too. A lot of spot welds were drilled and a lot of aligning done to make sure car was square and straight.
Body still needs lower quarters, extensions and a few patches in the trunk (or a new pan) and finish welding up all the spot welds. Will need new inner fenders in the front and replacement of the 22" radiator opening to the correct 26” wide opening.

For the rest of the body, I have the trunk lid, a 72 hood and doors.  One 70 (passenger side)fender and the headlight box to convert a very clean 72 fender to a 70 for the driver’s side.  I also have the front and rear valences, though they are a little dented up.

Interior wise, I have the dash frame, but a new dash pad is required.  I also have the 72 rallye cluster with wiring harness.  Seat frames for the buckets and rear seat, but missing seat tracks.  There are also door panels, kick panels and a-pillar trim.  SE headliner and overhead console and wiring is there, as is the SE rear window plug. The driver’s door panel is a little rough though.

For suspension, I have the original k frame, and stock front suspension, with disc brake assemblies.  Rotors will need to be replaced and calipers rebuilt.  I have an 8-3/4 E-body rear axle with a ‘489 casting center section.  At one point I thought there was a sure grip, but its either shot, or I was wrong.  A have a couple of sets of springs for the rear too and an aftermarket rear sway bar (made by Addco)

As for the drive train, well, not much there.  I have a 727 big block transmission that needs to be rebuilt.  The numbers on the side indicate a 1970 383 transmission.  All the shift linkage and parts are in the boxes.

I am sure there are a few other things I am missing.  I have been collecting parts since I bought the car, so I know I am forgetting a bunch of items.  I may have doubles of some parts too.

The value of the key parts are pretty close to what I am asking, if not more.  Figure all the little stuff that’s hiding in the boxes, and you could sell the parts for more than asking price.  I am not into swap meets so I am trying to sell all of this as one lot.

Car is located in near Buffalo NY. Asking $3,500 for everything.  Bring a trailer and a pick up truck and take it all away.  PM or see profiles for email for more information.

Does the car retain it's vin tag on the  original dash?

Cowl numbers are still there.  I removed the cowl to repair a-pillars and rust in the plenum.  I rewelded cowl back on.  Original VIN tag is on the dash pad still.  The car had the whole front clip cut off when I bought it, so no numbers on radiator support.

Still available.  Snow has landed so I'd like to move this if possible before I get it blocked in with the summer stuff.
