Vin Tag?? Question
« on: April 14, 2005 - 07:48:49 PM »
I have a 70 Barracuda 318 auto. I have a problem with the dash vin. The fender tag, door sticker, and the numbers on the cowl and rad support match but the vin on the dash is wrong. I ran the numbers with the cops to see if it was stolden and everything came back good. The bill of sale is for the proper vin(fender tag). I have talked with datatags.com and they told me that they can make a new dash vin for 300usd. What i would like to know is if they are able to do it or is there another place to look into?

It sounds like someone changed your dash pad and neglected to change the VIN. Datatags.com is the only place able to do VIN tags legally as far as I know, the $300.00 fee is largely due to the time and paperwork invloved to do it legally. It will require some help from your local law enforcement ageny too. Datatags can talk you through what all needs to be done.

If you do not mind, please PM me or email me with the dash VIN, I can check my files on the off chance that the car it matches still exists.

T/Ake care,
Barry

I agree with Alaskan, switched Dash. The only other possible reason is that the rest of the number tags were switched when to make a correct car but the dash VIN was forgotten, no offence but an awful lot of trouble over a 318.  :(
Which leads me to the beginning, dash was switched.  ;)

Sounds like $300.00 well spent to make it right. If you use the right rivets law enforcement will never know anything about it seeing as it's registed under the VIN on your fender tag.

Actually I think $300 is a deal, especially if they handle all of the legal paperwork for you.
