Brad, I forgot to take a picture of the linkage before modification. If you have ever come across the original 70 4 speed reverse rod it basically travels slightly forward. from the shifter lever, and around the rear transmission cross member and has ample clearance. The 72-74 units (don't know about 71) however, had this curve in them that swept toward the rear of the car then curved around forward. I have never figured out why they just didn't use the 70 style. Jaimie's design is similar to this later model method I just described. Most x-pipes have the x up around the end of the tranny and this curved rod interferes where the left exhaust starts to bend across to the right towards the x from the header or manifold. For my 4 speed and this 5 speed I simply made the rod look like a 70 unit as opposed to ripping apart the exhaust and modifying it. When I get pictures done next weekend this will be a lot clearer.
