New Small Block Timing Cover
« on: December 10, 2013 - 03:13:00 PM »
Hi guys,

Anyone try the small block timing cover below from Mancini?  I spoke with Mancini and they are back ordered until January/February.  They have a guy who custom makes them although they are a lot of money.  What are your thoughts?

I just changed my 340 timing cover when I changed the water pump a few weeks ago. I picked it up from Summit and is cast aluminum same as stock but made in Mexico. It does not have the Mopar logo. I also had to grind down the timing tab so it clears the harmonic balancer. It cost around $85, good enough if you don't care about keeping everything stock and is just a driver. The one you are looking at is machined billet aluminum piece with a price to match. Looks great if that is what you want and go nice with a shiny racing harmonic balancer.

BTW I am in the process of restoring the original Mopar timing cover. Already cleaned it all up. It will need some aluminum welding done to fix the corroded part of the casting. Problem is I have not done any welding in more than 30 years, LOL.

Guy I know here in  Calgary installed a serpentine setup and reverse water pump on his 340. Got all the parts from Pick N Pull. Of course if one is going for original look then this is not for that installation.
