Were there any 70 Gran Coupes with Black grills or tail panels?
« on: December 05, 2013 - 07:42:12 PM »
I am finally making some headway on my 70 Gran Coupe. It is not all original as the motor was swapped to a 340 before I bought it. It is going back to its original B5 color. When I got the car the grill and tail panel were painted black. I think that would look nicer than the silver or body color especially on the tail panel. Did they ever do any Gran Coupes like that? Struggling with making a decision on whether to go as orig or what I think looks good. With all the chrome on the qtrs and deck lid the silver may be too much. What do ya think? THANKS!  :feedback:

Isn't there an option for the blacked out grill and other parts?

I know the M46 barracuda had the lower black out.

I've seen an orange car that supposedly had original paint with a factory black out on the bottom like the M46, but was not an M46.

Aren't there some Cuda's with the blacked out tail panel.

There must have been a code to choose for a black out treatment.
Most other mopars had such treatments.

This is the one I was thinking of.
It was advertised as original paint.
The front spoiler makes me suspect of a non factory black out.
However, you can see the rust on the rear quarter which at least helps it's age.

Black inserts for the grill, and light argent for the tail panel. At least that's what I've gathered through a lot of research.
