I made my 73 rod look like a 70/71 no big deal just need a welder and hacksaw. Had to do the same with my Ppasson 5 spd setup as well. It came with a reverse rod like a 73.
That was what i was thinking. From what i could see, it looked like it had a different bend to it. So why not heat it up and bend it?

You will find you have to cut it and weld as that bend straightened out leaves too much length that will hang down too far
