Console Light

the light in my console went out, how would you go about fixing it... its a console on the floor for a 70 Challenger...

 ??? ??? I have a ' 70 Challenger with a 4-speed console and I have never seen a light on that rascal. Where is your light located?

If your talking about the shift indicator light for the automatic, you'll have to take the console off. Take the screws out of the woodgrain cover. After you get that off, there are two screws in front of the shifter, and two screws in the console box. After you get those out, the console will lift off. You can then get to the light socket in the bottom of the shifter.

hey thanks.. I took the woodgrain piece off when the light first went out, and I looked around, and then i was like.. ahhhhhhh I'll get to it later... thanks.. I've been wondering about that light for a while.. thanks again

Hello,
   Just a word of caution when you remove the light socket from the console. They are cheaply made and it's real easy to pull the wire right off the socket. Mine was pretty well dry rotted and that happened to me. Live and learn.
