    vinyl top install question pillar line

    Where should the seam be located on the front pillar on a 'Cuda? how far down the pillar shouls the sew seam be. Is at the very top? I thought it was down acouple of inches but he vinyl top has been removed before I bought the car. Thanks

    AZDAN, I have a 73 Cuda, I will have it at home tomorrow night, I'll get a couple of photo's and measurements for you.

    There is a trim piece that covers the end of the vinyl down on the pillar. If you have the trim piece it's clear where to cut....  EDIT: oops misread question

    He's talking about the seam in the top...not where to cut the material at the bottom.  The seam is a couple inches down from where the A-pillar and roof join.

    If you buy a quality reproduction vinly top, this seam is already set. It falls where it falls.

    I've never installed one myself but I assume there is some front and back adjustment.  That would change the location of the seam a little wouldn't it?

    That's what I figured. I just installed mine and the seam is somewhere near the top. I guess I should look.

    Well yes technically I guess it could/would vary....

    I like your wheel/tire combo....reminds me of the Barrelcuda every time I see pictures...

    I installed a new top last summer.  It went on easy, I had my wife help:  Key was was good prep, clean surface, patience and doing it a 1/4 at a time.  Low humidity is a plus

    When I laid it on as a test fit, yes, moving it back and forth will alter that measurement.  So a historical OEM measurement will def help, but Ill bet measurements from the factory originals will vary.  Remember, allot of stuff was virtually slapped on as Q/A wasn't exactly rampant back in the day
