Stainless Trim (Top Windshield)?

Can anyone share any info regarding the exterior stainless trim for the "top" of the windshield?  Specifically, when I took mine off, I noticed remnants of adhesive foam on the backside of the trim.  Does anyone know anything about this?  What was the width and thickness?  I think I'll need to acquire some foam stripping and apply before reinstalling.  BTW - would this have been used on the backside of any other stainless windshield trim?  Thanks.

I've never seen anything on the back of windshield trim. Sounds like it was someone's attempt to stop a windshield leak. I've seen people put the windshield in and then fill the channel with sealer and then stick the trim on. Makes it a ***** to get off next time.

Apparently, a foam strip was secured (glued) to the top of windshield frame, not to the backside of the stainless trim.  See the following link to Moparts thread I posted with member replies and photos.

I just pulled this same trim off a Challenger Convertible i have here that is a job for a guy, i measured the foam and it is 3/4" wide and 1/2" thick, sticky backed from factory. I will be after this same foam also, i was thinking of cntacting DMT to see if he has this in stock, this Challenger only has it along the top edge of the windshield fram and nothing runs down the A-pillars except the gasket that goes in behind the A-pillar Stainles rubber chanel, for the door glass to sit against. :2thumbs:

Thanks for the info on the thickness and width.  I'll see what I can find online.  I've done lots of business with Jim (DMT) in the recent past.  Let me know if he's able to help out.

You are correct, that is not the exact material, but it looks to be a better choice than the original, i think the original material is a bit too much like a sponge and would hold moisture, what you found looks much more dense and could be a better choice.
I have not contacted DMT yet, not quite ready for that stage yet. :2thumbs:
