Fire Extinguisher
« on: October 30, 2013 - 10:46:32 AM »
I'm finally getting the Cuda back from the body shop this weekend for its first cruise in almost a year. It's probably best that I bring a fire extinguisher just in case..... Any recommendations on what would be best in case of an emergency?

Well Halon is simply amazing , but I believe it has been outlawed by the tree huggers , we put a small cup on the lunch room with virtually nothing in it & no one could get a lighter to light LOL

We have halon systems at work in our computer rooms, didn't know there might be portable units out there.

Get a CO2 extinguisher. it will put out flammable liquid and electrical fires (wood etc as well, but blows paper etc all over) it smothers the fire of oxygen. it will not leave a mess like dry chemical, so it's great for your car.

Thanks guys! I'm going to go with the co2. I'll keep it next to the drivers seat until I feel comfortable.mthen throw it behind my seat after a few drives. My restoration has taken 7 more months than planned. He says this Sunday for sure, but I've heard that too many times to get my hopes up. Getting down to the last few weekends with decent weather.

I got one of these and leave it behind the driver's seat. I still haven't mounted the bracket to the floor yet.

You can still get Halon extinguishers, I just bought a couple off eBay two weeks ago.  There not as cheap as CO2 or Halotron extinguishers but they have advantages such as the fact that they are smaller and weigh less.  I also wonder if spraying CO2 on a hot engine is a good idea.  I would be concerned about cracking the block.
