Cuda resto questions for a newb
« on: February 26, 2014 - 08:05:37 PM »
I am looking in the future to purchase and restomod a 70-71 'cuda. I understand the "rareity" of such cars and thus their price. But i want to know, whish would be a more cost effective route?

1. Buy a car that is basically allready done and put together, but swap out particular parts for ones i want?
2. buy a cheaper one that would require alot fo work, and basically build from the ground up the way i want it?

im not concerned about numbers matching or original parts etc, all the things that make these cars expensive.... i plan on driveing this thing daily, or almost daily, and driveing it hard like a true muscle car is meant to be. so fancyness, and "show quality" is not my intent.

Best advice I can give you from what I've learned is to save up and buy a car with a descent body and as little rust as possible I spent 4000 on my 70 but it req almost 5 grand in sheet metal so depending on your budget. Worst part. Is these cars are becoming so rare now you almost have to check craigslist and other sites daily. Good luck I'm sure if what I said helps but it's just my experience.
