Vintage Air Kit in Cuda Question
« on: July 24, 2014 - 11:25:10 AM »
I am installing a Vintage Air Conditioning kit in my Barracuda; it is going well as far as the compressor and the blower and AC box inside goes; everything fits fine, basically.
My question is; Where does the wiring harness go through the firewall at?  The instructions from Vintage don't show it.  My plan is to route it through one of the old heater hose holes if no one has a better idea. Which you probably do.

Bought new in '71; I wanted the Challenger but they were $2850; too much $ so I got the 318, 3 speed on the floor, Twister Duster for $2100.

I routed mine through the lower heater hose hole. I cut a slit in the gromit that they give you to plug the hole and ran the harness through it.

I am doing mine today; there are 6 lines that come through and two are hot and two of them are ground; they want you to connect them to the battery. I will send them along the right side, across the front with the other wiring, to the battery.  I think. Or I might go across the firewall with the other wires. Let me think about it... I punched a hole in my rubber grommet with a leather punch; neater than cutting an X.

Here is how I ran mine. No where near as clean as Johns Cuda shops hidden lines but functional.

Nice; I like that wrapping. I was just going to use tape. I didn't install my wiring yet as I was going to do that after what should have been a 2 minute job of installing the driveshaft, but I am having issues with that.

I did call Vintage and the tech rep was nice; he said to run the wires through one of the old heater hose plugs, just like we are talking about. The instructions that come with the kit don't mention it.  I put mine in yesterday.
