how and where does hydro clutch fit?
« on: January 22, 2014 - 05:47:50 PM »
i want to know where and how the mcleod throwout bearing kit fits? specifically the master cylinder. i looked in my car but i cant see where it would mount when ive been told it bolts right in. The arm coming out of the car that actuates the clutch is on an angle so i dont see how the push rod on the master would fit or where it would fit. Pictures of one mounted would help me out so i cant decide on a buy or not. (1973 cuda a833)

usually they bolt through the oval hole in the firewall  with the pushrod on an angle into the master

American Powertrain has some really useful installation videos for their hydromax clutch. The key concepts of the installation video will be universal for the most part across hydraulic clutch systems, there will of course be variations with different manufactures.

Part 2:
Hydramax Clutch System Set Up Part 2

One thing to look out for, the hydraulic clutch system relocates the applied pedal pressure from the engine and chassis (which is where the z bar mounts) to the firewall (where the master cylinder mounts). Depending upon the condition of the firewall and model of car, some people will find they need a reinforcement plate on the firewall.
