Paint colour question
« on: January 09, 2014 - 07:35:12 PM »
I want to redo the recessed area of my fender louvers. I would like to match the colour to the colour of the words FOUR BARREL in the 340 FOUR BARREL emblem. Does anyone have a paint colour for that shade of red/orange? Can I buy that colour in a spray can?

Just a thought....Seeing how this is a nice personal custom touch...Why not pick a colour you like and paint both the louver inserts and repaint the emblems ? Could be red, could be any colour you like... :dunno:

It is the colour I want. I've seen a picture of a black car with red inserts and red strobe stripes but it was a little strong for my liking. I think doing just the inserts is a nice accent and if I make it the same as the FOUR BARREL colour it will give continuity. I wouldn't change the FOUR BARREL colour as there are certain things that I like 'original'.

I repainted the '440 Magnum' hood emblems with 'Insignia Red'. Looks like a match to me.

Is that a Mopar colour Scott? Where did you get it?

Actually it is a Testors model paint. Picked it up at a local hobby store.

I found it in a google search after I posted my question to you. I thought it looked a little to bright but if you say it's a match I'll get some and see how it looks. Thanks for the help.

What I meant is...If you repaint the emblems too, you won't need a perfect match...they can still be red. :2cents:

 :iagree:

Even if you find the correct color, the two aren't going to match unless you repaint them both.  One will be faded and one will look new.

So I got them painted and while the colour is a very close march to original it came out a little on the dull side. A friend said that spraying with some clear coat will add a little gloss to it. Agree or disagree?
